Helios2 Wide Time of Flight (ToF) IP67 3D Camera

Helios2 Wide integrates Sony’s DepthSense™ IMX556PLR back-illuminated ToF image sensor paired with a wide-angle lens providing a 108º angle of view, suited for applications with a close working distance and large area of operation such as full-size palettizing applications. This IP67 Factory Tough™ 3D camera delivers 640 x 480 depth resolution at up to an 8.3 meter working distance and a frame rate of 30 fps.

Helios2 Wide vs Helios2

Helios2 Wide FoV vs Helios2

The Helios2 Wide offers the same IP67 and Factory Tough design as the regular Helios2 but quadruples the viewable area thanks to its wider 108° x 78° field of view (compared to the Helios2’s 69⁰ x 51⁰ FoV). This allows the Helios2 Wide to image a much larger area at the same distance of a Helios2 or image the same area but at a closer distance to the target, allowing for more flexibility with camera installation.

*0.5 m distance precision measured with 750 µs exposure time, all other distances using 3000 µs exposure time measured with white paper target.

Test Conditions:

  • Target: White paper mounted on bar attached to motion stage
  • Helios2 Wide positioning: mounted on tripod, laser distance meter used to measure distance from case front to stage zero position
  • Camera setting: Coord3D_C16 Pixel Format, bilateral filtering OFF, camera warmed up for 20 minutes.
  • Imaging environment: Room light on during testing, black material used to minimize reflections off floor
  • Motion stage moved in 50mm steps, for each step measure depth over 10×10 pixel ROI at image center, repeat 32 times at each position
  • Accuracy measured as difference between camera’s average measured depth across the ROI and 32 images and the ground truth depth (stage zero distance + stage position)
