Richmond, BC, Canada – September 23, 2020 – LUCID Vision Labs, Inc., a designer and manufacturer of innovative industrial cameras, today announced that its new 5.4 MP Triton camera featuring Sony’s IMX490 automotive, high dynamic range CMOS image sensor with rolling shutter has entered series production.

The Triton TRI054S featuring the Sony IMX490 (BSI) back-illuminated stacked CMOS sensor allows for simultaneous imaging with 120dB of dynamic range and LED flicker mitigation. With the large 5.4 MP, 2880 x 1860 pixel resolution running at 23.1 fps, this camera enables a wide-angle field of view and high precision recognition in both daytime and nighttime for Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) and Autonomous Driving. This camera model is also well suited for other applications that demand very high dynamic range (HDR) imaging such as electrical fuse inspection, high contrast medical imaging, Automatic Guided Vehicles (AGV), as well as ITS applications.

“The new Triton camera featuring Sony’s IMX490 image sensor achieves both 120dB of dynamic range and LED flicker mitigation at the industry’s highest 5.4 Megapixel resolution,” says Rod Barman, Founder and President at LUCID Vision Labs. “This makes it possible to capture a wider angle of view, enabling the sensor to recognize traffic conditions and objects such as obstacles, signs, and traffic signals.”

The Triton camera sets a new price performance standard in the industrial camera market. Active Sensor Alignment for superior optical performance, a lightweight, compact 29 x 29 mm size, and IP67 protection rating make the Triton camera suitable for a wide range of applications. The M12 Ethernet and M8 general purpose I/O connectors provide a robust connection resistant to shock and vibration and are protected from dirt, dust, and water. The Triton camera has a wide operating temperature range from -20°C to 55°C ambient, ensuring reliable operation in challenging conditions.

All LUCID cameras conform to the GigE Vision 2.0 and GenICam3 standards and are supported by LUCID’s own Arena software development kit. The Arena SDK provides customers with easy access to the latest industry standards and software technology. The SDK supports Windows, Linux 64bit and Linux ARM operating systems, and C, C++, C# and Python programming languages.
