The Playboard Demo Camera

What’s the purpose of this demo camera?
The Playboard GigE Vision camera is designed for customers to explore Lucid Vision’s camera feature and functionality. By using this camera you can familiarize yourself with our GenICam 3 compliant Arena™ SDK, explore our HTML documentation, and stream 640 x 480 images at 240 FPS.

It is also meant to spur feedback from amazing customers such as yourself. Your feedback is important to us. Any feedback, questions, or comments will play a pivotal role in our future releases, including our upcoming Phoenix board level GigE camera. Thank you for trying the Lucid Vision Playboard!

What do I need to get started?
The most important item you will need is a Power Over Ethernet (PoE, IEEE 802.3af) connection. If you don’t have a PoE switch or PoE interface card it is recommended you purchase a low cost PoE injector to get started.

System requirements:
• i5 CPU, 4 Gb Ram
• Windows 8.1/10
• Gigabit Ethernet port with PoE, PoE switch, or PoE injector
• CAT5e cable
• Lucid Arena SDK

Step 1
Download Arena SDK

Download the Arena SDK and install it onto your computer. You will need at least 1 gigabyte of free space. Contact us for details.


Step 2
Connect the Camera

Connect the Ethernet cable to your PoE Gigabit port, flip open the camera’s collapsible Ethernet port and plug in the camera. The LEDs should begin to flash.

Step 3
Open Arena View GUI

Launch the ArenaView program from Windows. Select the camera displayed in the camera selection dialogue box to begin streaming.

Step 4

After launching the camera here are some things you can experiment with:

  • Exposure time
  • Gain
  • Frame rates
  • Region of interest (ROI)
  • Chunk data
  • Image formats
